When asked about what could explain the similarities between an insular (the Azores bullfinch, Pyrrhula murina (Priôlo in Portuguese)) and a continental (the bullfinch, Pyrrhula pyrrhula (Dom-Fafe in Portuguese)) bird species, more than one-third of the students correctly referred their shared ancestry (A, B, C).
