The relationship between students’ post-course evolutionary attitudes and religiosity. Student attitudes towards evolution, as measured by their post-course total score on the MATE tool, are negatively correlated with religiosity, here a Likert-scale response to the question ‘how active would you say you are in the practice of your religious preference?’ This factor has four levels, ranging from zero (not active) to three (very active). The value of r indicated in the figure (−0.2), is Pearson’s correlation coefficient for the two variables.
