Examples of answers given by students in the assessment of the knowledge about natural selection. When asked about what would happen to an insular bird population with wing-size polymorphism after the release of cats in their islands, most students correctly predicted changes in the frequency of phenotypes, invoking differential survival (A, B, C) and reproduction (B) of the more adapted birds.
